Day one – Flight to Thailand

Day one – Flight to Thailand

We are in an Airbnb condo near the airport and my brother’s house. It’s a nice little cozy place for us to get situated before heading south tomorrow. Flying from the PNW to Thailand takes a full 24 hours. Not counting frantically packing all day before our 11:30 PM flight. Olie was incredibly amazing the whole trip.

I would like to shout out to her ABA team and how great the experience was with the whole support system all the way from SeaTac airport to Thailand. They were well aware of Olie’s needs and tried their best to support her.

We took advantage of the Sunflower program at Seatac, TSA Cares, and wheelchair service from the airline. Wheelchair service was the best decision we made. We can’t imagine traveling 24 hours without it. The wheelchair service made the long walk from check-in to the gate in Seattle, and getting from the plane through Thai immigration so fast.

Every trip back here has reminded me how much I miss Thailand for its own uniqueness, generosity of people, incredible food and wonderful friendship. I went to do money exchange at my good friend’s business and take that opportunity to catch up.

She asked why I did want to come back to Thailand after several decades living in the U.S. I told her that, Papa J is going to have his sailing dream and here is my dream.

The decision to purchase land last year was quick and impulsive in a way. I would call it, a calling.  We all are circling back to where we supposed to be in the end. Salmon journey for thousands of miles back to where they are from.

Life can be that simple and romantic, at least that’s how I see it.
